History and Development
This breed was developed in Sudan in the Khartoum region and was used by the indigenous dwellers in the mountain regions. So little is known about the Tawleed that, even the genetic variation in color patterns is shrouded with mystery.
The reason for obscurity in studying the Tawleed is the fact that, exploring the realms of Sudan itself is an arduous and unsafe thing to do since the country’s political climate is unfriendly. Another reason is that, the habitat of these horses is extremely inaccessible.
The only information available is that, these equines were developed by crossing the Sudan Country-bred horses with the Thoroughbreds and other exotic breeds to produce a light riding horse. Presently, it is used as a riding horse.
